Gift Bag For Boys!

Hello everyone, I have been doing some spring cleaning through my crafting stash and discovered some older papers and I hate wasting. So after donating some supplies I pulled some older papers out and got to work creating some gift bags. Altered journals/books are another great way to use up your older stash and they make great gifts too!

I used 'Lazy Summer Days' to make a gift bag for a little boy.

A quick and easy way to make gift bags is to buy premade ones that can be altered, I have done this and my bag measures 200mm x 250mm. Firstly I removed the red twine as it didn't go with my colours, then I adhered patterned paper measuring 200mm x 250mm to cover the entire bag.

I replaced the red twine with some gold ribbon.

My image 'Lazy Summer Days' has been coloured with Copics. To finish it off I randomly stamped 'French Vintage Postmarks', mounted it on patterned paper and machine stitched around the edges.

To complete my bag I adhered some flowers, I used the 'Rolled Scalloped Flower' Die-Light to create my maroon flower and finished it off with a tag 'Sweet Tags with Hearts' , 'Button Twine - Vintage Linen' and sentiment 'General Sayings II'.

Now I have a gift bag ready for those special occasions and a great way to use up some older supplies!

Morning all.....Vicky here today to show you how I made this quick and easy gift bag using the adorable Simply Maya "A Package of Love"

...And this is how I made it...

 

 

 I die-cut all the elements as show and stamped the sentiment onto one of the tabs.

I then downloaded a template from the internet and printed it straight onto my patterned card stock.

I then cut the template out and scored and glued all the edges together.

I then put my gift in the bag and covered with tissue paper, tied the handles together with some seam binding and created a pretty bow.

I then tied the tags to the handles of the bag using the button twine and again created a bow.

Then I glued the doily and butterfly in place.

I then coloured and cut out Maya and placed her using 3D pads.

A Gift Box using Simply Maya "First Date"...

Morning all....

Vicky here today....and I thought I share with you a paper mache box I have decorated using one of Simply Maya digi stamps..

And here is how I made it..

 

 

Diecut your elements..

 

 

1} Decorate the sides of the box with your papers of choice.

2} Stick the border strips along the edge of the box, then follow around with lace if desired.

3} Tie some button twine around the box {I went round twice} then tie a large bow. 

4} Thread the charm and tie to twine {I find it easier do it that way...!!}.

Decorate your lid of the box with your chosen image and arrange your pretty elements..

Tutorial soap box with a window

Today it's my turn to show you something I've made;

a decorated soap box.

First you need a piece of cardstock of 16 x 18 cm.

Score lines as shown below on the picture.

Then cut it out as shown below 

(I am sorry, I rotated the cardstock 180 degrees on the following picture)

and use one of your dies to cut a window in it.

(be sure you leave 1 cm to the folds uncut or you will see the edges of the box

throuth the window).

Place a piece of acetate (or in my case a sheet of gelatine from the supermarket)

behind the window.

And finally fold the box into each other and place some

sticky tape on the fold you see completely right on the picture above.

Now you can decorate the box following your personal taste, with

stamps, die-lights, flowers, charms and stuff.

Zip Open Envelope Tutorial

Hello everyone!

This is Kathrin here today with a tutorial for a zip open envelope that fits exactly a regular size (100g) Milka chocolate.

I am pretty sure we all ordered from Amazon before and their envelopes are the ones that inspired me to do this tutorial.

Hallo an alle!

Hier ist Kathrin und ich möchte Euch heute zeigen, wie Ihr einen Aufreiß-Umschlag machen könnt, in den genau eine 100g-Tafel Milka paßt. Sicher haben wir alle schon bei Amazon bestellt und deren Umschläge brachten mich auf die Idee...

So, here's what you'll need:

- 1 sheet of Cardstock measuring 27,8 x 21,6 cm (it's exactly one sheet of the US letter size)

- one Milka

- scissors, ruler, bone folder, glue/tape

- a perforating tool or a cutter that cuts perforated lines or a piercing tool if you don't have one of these

- of course some stamps to decorate you envelope

Ihr braucht:

- 1 Stück Cardstock, 27,8 x 21,6 cm (das ist genau ein Bogen US-Letter-Größe)

- eine Tafel Milka

- Schere, Lineal, Falzbein, Kleber/Klebeband

- ein Perforationswerkzeug oder ein Cutter, der perforieren kann, oder, falls Ihr beides nicht habt, tut es auch ein Piercing-Werkzeug,

- natürlich einige Stempel um Euren Umschlag zu verzieren

Score your cardstock along the long side at 6 cm from one side, turn it around and score the other edge at 6,3 cm.

Then score it at 4 cm along both edges of the short side.

Falzt Euren Cardstock entlang der längeren Seite bei 6 cm, dreht es dann um 180° und falzt die andere längere Seite bei 6,3 cm.

Dann falzt jeweils bei 4 cm entlang der kürzeren Kante.

Now cut off the 4 un-needed corners. Don't make your cuts straight but start about 5 mm - 1 cm away from the scored line and end exactly where the lines meet. This makes sure your envelope closes well.  Important: as you can see I cut the flap on the left side straight - this is needed to create your flap so make a straight cut there.

Schneidet nun die vier nicht-benötigten Ecken ab. Macht hierbei keine geraden Schnitte, sondern beginnt ungefähr 5mm - 1 cm entfernt von der Falzlinie und endet genau dort, wo sich die Linien treffen. Auf diese Weise lässt sich der Umschlag besser schließen.  

Wichtig: Wie Ihr auf dem Foto sehen könnt, habe ich die Klappe auf der linken Seite gerade, also genau auf den Falzlinien geschnitten. Hieraus entsteht dann der Verschluss.

Next take a ruler and a pencil and make two straight lines 2 cm and 3 cm away from the edge of the straigt cut flap. Those are only here to help doing the next step and will be removed with an eraser later.

Also make a little mark on the 3 cm line measuring 1 cm at each side inwards from the edges.

Als nächstes benutzt Lineal und Bleistift umd 2 cm und 3 cm von der Kante der gerade geschnittenen Klappe eine Linie zu ziehen. Diese dient nur dazu, den nächsten Schritt einfacher zu machen und wird später mit einem Radiergummi wieder entfernt.

Macht Euch auch eine kleine Markierung auf dem 3-cm-Strich, auf beiden Seiten jeweils 1 cm vom Papierrand einwärts.

 User your perforation tool to perforate the paper where you drew the lines before. If you don't have a perforation tool just use a piercing tool and make little holes in even distance from each other.

Then make a diagonal cut from where the flap begins/is connected to the other flap to the little marks you made on the 3 cm line. I bend up the edges on the paper a bit to show on the photo where the slits will be.

Verwendet dann Euer Perforations-Werkzeug, um die zuvor gezeichneten Linien zu perforieren. Falls Ihr kein Perforations-Werkzeug habt, dann verwendet einfach ein Piercing-Werkzeug oder eine Nadel und macht in regelmäßigen Abständen kleine Löcher.

Dann schneidet diagonal von dort, wo die Klappe am Umschlag beginnt zu den kleinen Markierungen auf der 3-cm-Linie. Ich habe die entstehenden Dreiecke etwas nach oben gebogen, um auf dem Foto zu zeigen, wo die Schnitte sein sollen.

Cut away the little triangles and cut off 1 cm on both sides of the flap, starting at the edge and stopping where the 1-cm-perforation line begins.

Schneidet die kleinen Dreiecke ab und schneidet jeweils rechts und links an der Klappe 1 cm weg. Beginnt am Papierrand und endet genau dort, wo Ihr auf die erste Perforations-Linie trefft.

If you want to, you can also round the corners of the flap and the little strip.

Then turn your envelope over and decorate it. Decorating it now is way easier than doing it once the envelope is filled and closed.

Wenn Ihr wollt, könnt Ihr noch die Ecken der Klappe und des Streifens abrunden.

Dreht dann alles um und verziert die Vorderseite des Umschlags. Zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt ist das viel einfacher als später, wenn der Umschlag gefüllt und zugeklebt ist.

I used the postcard Vintage German Postcard stamp, two stamps from the new French Vintage Postmarks set and little Uru and Bird from the Gnomes collection.

I removed the word "Postkarte" from the postcard stamp and also made the lines on the top and bottom longer (by stamping just the middle part of the stamp in between) to fit the length of my envelope.

Ich habe den Stempel Deutsche Vintage Postkarte, zwei der Stempel aus dem neuen Set Französische Vintage Poststempel und Uru mit Vogel aus der Wichtel-Reihe verwendet.

Ich habe das Wort Postkarte vor dem Stempeln abgedeckt und habe auch die Linien oben und unten verlängert, um sie der Länge meines Kuverts anzupassen. Hierzu habe ich einfach nur den mittleren Teil der Postkarte gestempelt.

 Turn your decorated envelope over again and put a strip of sticky tape to the outer part of the flap.

Dreht Euren dekorierten Umschlag wieder um und klebt ein Stückchen Klebeband auf den äußeren Teil der Klappe.

 Now first fold in the two longer flaps and glue them together. Than fold over the bottom flap and fix it with glue as well.

Then fill it with the chocolate.

Faltet nun zuerst die langen Laschen nach innen und klebt sie zusammen. Dann wird auch die untere Lasche nach oben gefaltet und ebenfalls festgeklebt.

Und nun ist es Zeit, Eure Schokolade in den Umschlag zu stecken.

 As the last step remove the protection paper from your sticky tape and close the flap. Now the envelope can only be opened by ripping off the strip between the perforated lines.

Als letzten Schritt entfernt nun die Schutzschicht von Eurem Klebeband und schließt die Lasche. Nun kann der Umschlag nur noch geöffnet werden, indem der Streifen zwischen den Perforationslinien aufgerissen wird.

And this is my finished envelope. Next to Uru there's room to add a few lines to the recipient.

I don't know how about that at your end of the world but here in Germany you could even write down the recipients adress and mail that envelope. That's why I didn't add any further decorations, they would have been ripped off during transportation. 

If you plan to send this envelope don't add the postmark stamps and make sure you put a stamp on it.

Und so sieht mein fertiger Umschlag aus. Neben Uru ist genug Platz, um ein paar liebe Worte an den Empfänger zu schreiben. Und ich weiß nicht, wie das dort ist wo Ihr lebt. Aber hier in Deutschland könnt Ihr den Umschlag auf den Adress-Linien adressieren und genau so versenden. Darum habe ich ihn auch nicht weiter verziert, die Deko würde während des Transports nur abgerissen werden.

Falls Ihr den Umschlag versenden möchtet, solltet Ihr die Poststempel nicht mit abstempelt - und auf jeden Fall natürlich genug Porto auf den Umschlag kleben.
